Alexis Cordella

Alexis hails from the Eastern shores of Long Island, New York. She received her formative dance training from Dance Centre of the Hamptons and Manorville under the mentorship of Leigh Kestin. Alexis supplemented her training with summer study at the American Ballet Studio and by performing as a soloist in Nutcracker productions during her apprenticeship with the Dancecore Ballet Program.
As a competitor, she was recognized for her versatility and robust movement quality, which resulted in numerous titles and special awards, a spot on the United States Dance Team, and scholarships to the Relativity School and several other reputable training workshops. Alexis graduated summa cum laude from The College at Brockport, State University of New York with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelor of Science in Communication. She studied Contemporary Forms, Ballet, Improvisation, and Choreography extensively under the tutelage of esteemed professionals including Bill Evans, Karl Rogers, Jim Hansen, Mariah Maloney, Stevie Oakes, Vanessa VanWormer, and Tammy Sugden-Carrasco.
In her time at SUNY Brockport, she was awarded seven different honors and recognitions from the Department of Dance for her excellence in performance, scholarship, and service. In addition to her collegiate training, Alexis has attended the Bates Dance Festival Professional Training Program and Brockport Summer Dance as a merit scholar. She has also studied at the Bill Evans Teachers’ Intensive, David Dorfman Dance Intensive, and Dante Brown|Warehouse Dance / The Workshop. Alexis was an original company member and soloist of Chamber Ballet Brockport, a multidisciplinary touring ensemble distinguished by its collaboration with live musicians such as the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, graduates of the Eastman School of Music, and the Andrew Alden Ensemble. She was also a former member of James Hansen Assemblage Dance, where she performed highly reviewed works that toured to the Dumbo Dance Festival and Rochester Fringe Festival.
Currently, Alexis performs in project-based works for colleagues in both Rochester and New York City. Additionally, she has combined her passion for the arts and interest in communication by working on film and television productions like Experimental Film Virginia and The Rachael Ray Show.
Alexis continues her dance education by taking class regularly at Gibney Dance studios and attending dance concerts in New York City. She is elated to teach and choreograph at Dance Centre! Regionally, Alexis has led her students to overall high scores, special awards, and most importantly has empowered her students as individuals through the vehicle of dance.
